“The Head of Joaquin Murrieta” is a unique film that combined elements of a documentary with fiction. The film focuses on the story of Joaquin Murrieta, an outlaw who was hunted down and beheaded after his wife was murdered. In the story, nearly two centuries later, John J. Valadez receives the head of Joaquin Murrieta in the mail. Throughout the movie, Valadez travels with the head across the country to find out more about its past along with the history Mexican Lynching that occurred in the southwest. During the course of the film, I learned a lot about the discrimination Mexicans, along with other minorities had gone through in the past.
