Is Going a Different Way Worth It? A lonely, sad, hurt cat in the woods with no food. Would society save a dying cat in the woods? In the short story, “Everything Will be Okay” by James Howe, a young teen named James attempts to save a dying hurt cat. But how will things go during the time when James has to pick who he really is.…? As James does this, he takes his own way in life and doesn't follow his parents and his brothers. James realizes his inner personality and goes his own way in life and takes a different path than what he is being lead to do. In the beginning on the story, James Howe was in the park and saw this little kitten with no food and no home. James parents aren't the type of people who like animals as much as other people. So it is going to be harder to keep this animal inside his home to save it. This event causes him to go a different way in life and not hunt and kill animals like his family. When James brought the kitten home to show his parents they reacted in a disgusted way. In the text it says, “This animal is filled with diseases . We can't let it touch anything in the house.”(pg2)James mom says. This quote shows what his mom thinks of this kitten and how she doesn't like animals as much as the protagonist does.
