“A Good Man Is Hard to Find” is a short story that was written by Flannery O’Connor which was told by a third party. In the beginning of the story, we were told about the group of criminals that had escaped from prison, and the story laid emphasis on how dangerous this men were, and to add to it, they were led by a ruthless leader, known as the Misfit. The story then illustrates how this malignant men murdered an entire family at the call of the Misfit. This brutal incident occurred all because of the role the grandmother played, which depicts ignorance at its depth. The story talks about a family trying to go on a trip to Florida, but the grandmother did not agree to this because her selfish self wants to go to Tennessee. The fact that she is self-centered and inconsiderate led her to play cunning tricks to change the families plans of going to…show more content… Part if the imprudent tricks she played included sneaking her cat into the car which made Bailey, her son, to lose control of the car when the cat crept to his shoulders. As if that was not enough trouble, the grandmother also made an unwise mistake by identifying the murderer, Misfit, which left him no choice but to kill the entire family. The story presents an average American family, who clearly have issues going on, but one can see that at the end of the story, there presents a deeper meaning to the story. The end of the story shows how both the Misfit and the grandmother, who by the way is clearly is not likely to be the grandmother of the year, was able to attain a state of grace. Therefore, the story can be interpreted for its religious remark because it depicts salvation through the achievement of grace by both the grandmother and
