“The story of an hour” written by Kate Chopin utilizes many literacy devices including: foreshadowing, irony, metaphor, personification, and a paradox. This short story is about how Mrs. Mallard has conflicting emotions by her husband’s death .To start, foreshadowing is when the author gives hints at what is going to happen later in the story.
