“The Turn of the Screw” by Henry James and “The Innocents” by Jack Clayton both share very similar and horrific story lines. The article cinematic ambiguity discusses critical information and analyzes the key similarities and differences between the book and film.
James Palmer, the author of the article focuses a lot on the sexual aspect of the movie and book. Palmer mentions that the governess may be “sexually regressed” (198) however I don’t really see that in the film and text. I feel like Palmer might be pushing boundaries and thinking to deep into the subject. If the governess was sexually repressed I think she would have been more sexual with the kids or servants living in Bly. He also says the governess was sexually attracted to
