Secular humanism paper “There are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn’t true, and the other is to refuse to accept what is true.”-Soren Kieikergaard. Secular Humanism is a comprehensive, non- religious life style, incorporating; a naturalistic philosophy, a cosmic outlook into science, and a consequential ethical system (Secular Humanism). Sadly, SH has become rather obsolete because their ideology conflicts with modern day Christianity, thus resulting in a rather melancholy relationship between the two worldviews. The most notorious conflict between SH and Christianity is the controversy about a supernatural being. Although SH conflicts with modern day Christianity, SH believe that individuals control their own success, support the theory of evolution, and deny the theory of a supernatural being.…show more content…
This is shown by Calib Calley, “ as an non theist, we begin with humans, not god, nature, not deity, humans are responsible for what we are or will be. No deity will save us, we have to save ourselves (Secular Humanist council).” This illustrates immense belief that an individual carries their own path to success, with no hindrance or help by a supernatural being. This completely mutilates popular belief that an esoteric being controls humans like a puppet master. In fact, Christianity promotes the idea that a supernatural being controls your consequences.
