Schindler’s List, based on Thomas Keneally’s novel Schindler’s Ark, is one of the most accurate and compelling account of the Holocaust that has ever been made. This film shows unforgettable images and depicts the anguish and struggle that the Jewish people had to endure. Schindler’s List explores the side of humanity during one of the most horrific times in history. According to Quadrant Online, Brett Jenik, “Schindler was but a small-town crook who found his true place in life only as a secret service agent of the Nazi regime, before and during the war.” Jenik also proclaims that Schindler was merely an opportunist of the war that was clever enough to cover up his tracks taking advantage of people for his own profit. That, in fact, Oskar Schindler was a criminal of the war was overlooked due to the postwar turmoil. There is no doubt that Oskar Schindler took part in criminal activity but this does not change the fact that Oskar Schindler came to realize the importance of the lives of the Jewish people that were being murdered due to pure hatred. Oskar Schindler was an ordinary man who was full of flaws like the rest of us. He was able to find the courage to do extraordinary things for extraordinary people.
