The idea of free will has been argued for many years. Do we have free will or do we let fate take the wheel. However, despite biological and philosophical obstacles, free will is still an unsettled problem that presents uncertain outcomes. There are many stories and evidences of free will around. There is free will around in everyday life and in the mistakes you make, in plays and stories we read in or out if school and the concept of free will in a movie called The Adjustment Bureau where two characters are meant to be together but not allowed because it would ruin both of their futures. Thus showing the idea of free will is still around and can be proven throughout the choices made. The thought of free will in our daily lives affects us…show more content…
In one of his first plays students are introduced to is Romeo and Juliet, where both characters fall in love and both commit suicide by the end of the play. Both Romeo and Juliet had free will throughout the play by being with each other when forbidden by their parents. In addition, in Macbeth, he was influenced by the witches who lead to him to his demise. In Macbeth, the witches give him prophecies telling Macbeth to look out for MacDuff, Banquo and Duncan because they could be treats to him. The witches told him that he would become king and those were the only people in his way, so Macbeth decided to kill them, thus showing free will in Macbeth. Also, the tragedy in Shakespeare’s plays was not caused by fate, but by poor choices by the characters. In both Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth, we see that the poor choices made by the protagonists lead to their demise. For example, in Romeo and Juliet, Juliet had access to poison that could fake her death and Romeo believed that she was actually dead when she was not. Also in Macbeth, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth had killed Banquo and Duncan. For Lady Macbeth, the guilt got to her and that lead to her death and for Macbeth, he killed MacDuff’s family which infuriated MacDuff and caused him to kill
