Fitness Road Racing isn't just about skills, in order to be competitive you must have a strict fitness regiment. At Sicklean Racing our fitness regiment consist of three categories, nutrition, cardio, and weight training. When you have perfected your skills in road racing, weight begins to play a huge role in winning or losing. One of the easiest ways to to lose weight on the motorcycle is the rider, if you can shed 20 lbs that can mean the difference between winning or losing. Have you ever heard the saying, fitness is 60% nutrition 40% exercising. Meaning, you can workout all you want, but if you don't feed your body the correct nutrition you will never see the results you are looking for. Nutrition The key when it comes to nutrition is making it simple. Meal prepping is key, this takes out the guess work and takes away the temptation of eating unhealthy. We meal prep a day in advance that way the food is still fresh, who likes eating week old left overs? To keep the meal prep simple, we do a protein, carbohydrate, and a vegetable. For example, 8oz chicken breast, 1 cup of red potatoes, and 1 cup of green beans. We will generally eat this throughout the day, the only fresh meal that we eat is breakfast…show more content…
Most people don't enjoy cardio so we try to mix it up to keep things interesting. We have three main ways of doing cardio, cycling, rowing, and running. When were not racing were training and one of the best ways to do this is cycling. We do a lot of mountain bike riding which is an excellent all around source of cardio. The second best source of cardio that we do regularly is rowing. We usually do this at the gym prior to our weight training regiment. And the last source of cardio and the least liked is running. Although its the least liked, its the easiest to do. I simply wake up in the morning and go for a nice run, there's no prepping or driving
