On March 23, 1775 Patrick Henry delivered an urgent, passionate speech to the Virginia Convention, who were composed of two opposing parties. Henry, along with many others, wanted to take immediate action to defend Virginia against the British. However, Loyalists argued to remain cautious, but patient until they received a reply to their petition for peace and understanding. Henry uses appeals to Logos and Ethos to persuade doubtful members into defying the British in order to secure their homes and futures. As an attorney, Henry is an expert in persuading people.
