Gun Control and Violence in the USA Did you know that five a woman a day are killed by guns in America? Since December 15, 1791 the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. In the past decade gun control has been a huge issue the USA, with many people supporting the right to own fire arms but another big group wanting to make the ownership of fire arms illegal. The dispute has many pros and cons, but if we take a long look to the pros of making fire arms illegal we will realize how big it will affect today´s society in very positive ways. So, guns should be banned in the US because of the dangers it brings to the whole country.
The first most important reason is that more gun control laws would reduce gun deaths. Between 1999 and 2013 there were 464, 033 total gun deaths 270, 237 of this deaths were suicides and 174, 773 homicides. About 200 Americans go to emergency rooms every day with gunshot wounds, so imagine how many lives could be saved if we had a gun control…show more content… For example, 1982 the city if Chicago instituted a ban on handguns, only the civilians who owned handguns before the law was implemented could keep them and had to be re-registered every two years or the owners would lose the right to own the handgun. Another simple solution is background check on anyone who desires to buy a fire arms. This and many other solutions are discussed by gun rights and gun control groups in the Congress, but a solution has yet to be obtained.
