Euthanasia Euthanasia is a very controversial topic that has taken precedence over issues concerning life in society today. With the new advances in the medical field, terminally ill people can lie longer than they would have now rather than years ago when the medical field did not have as many advancements in prolonging the life of a terminally ill patient (Diaconescu 474). Euthanasia is a divisive topic with many arguments, both for and against it that can lead to much emotion being brought out of people. Some people argue that to euthanize a patient who is terminally ill shows compassion, while others bring about the issue of murder (Diaconescu 474). Euthanasia has been around since ancient times. Many people agree that everyone should be able to die with dignity, but religious people argue that when Jesus says, "thou salt not kill”, it relates to the topic of euthanasia. Another argument that is presented is whether or not we are allowed to help accelerate death for those who are terminally ill, and whether or not it is lawful to do so.
