Beowulf Description Portfolio The soles of my boots slowly sink into the moistened mud as I trudge towards Dane’s seared gates. Tiny shards of soot float down onto my shoulder and grasp to my windblown hair, like infants to their mothers. Several jackals, covered with black ash, race across the street, along with a few frazzled townspeople who act haltingly to anything that moves. There are several villagers who are hidden in the darkness of what’s left of their homes. Every house and tavern has been dreadfully burned, leaving its inhabitants with no shelter from the undying embers. There are lines of bloody bodies with sheets covering them that don’t quite shield my eyes from the horrifying desolation of their last visitor.
