My life, My control, these were the words I had said when I decided I had had enough. Enough of belittling myself and entrapping myself just because of the way I looked. My appearance doesn't define me. Why is it that when I walk on the street, all people seem to look at is the circumference of my waist, the flabs of my arms and the number of my chins? I have fingernails, I am not fingernails, I have fat, I am not fat. What is Childhood Obesity? More than three hundred thousand people die of obesity every year. It is ironic that so many people suffer from it but almost no one is aware of it. I remember how I used to feel so lonely so hopeless all the time.According to a survey conducted by the World Health Organization, it is affecting more than 124 million children worldwide - 10 times what it was 40 years ago. It is now, a global crisis. There are a lot of causes of childhood obesity and I feel like a lot of them are associated with the environment, the society and our busy way of life today - easy availability of low-cost high-calorie food, children’s love for sweets and overconsumption of unhealthy food, eating out too much and passive entertainment are a few major causes of childhood obesity. Childhood obesity doesn’t only affect a child physically but also mentally. The psychological wounds are the ones that are the hardest to deal with, the emotional damage that comes with it goes on into the adolescence and somehow gets deep-rooted in childrens’ personality throughout the life.That is why childhood obesity should be dealt with seriously and effective preventions should be
