For my volunteer event, I wanted to do the Soup Kitchen (SK). I registered online and waited for a response because they said they would contact me when help was needed. No one ever called. The class was coming to an end, so I decided to give them a called. A young lady answered the phone and told me that I could just show up at any time at 8 and volunteer and that is what I did. Of all days (because it was my last opportunity), I went today.
I knocked on the door and was greeted by a young lady and I told her I wanted to get some volunteer hours in for my class. She told me that I needed to see Lourdes. I wanted over to Lourdes and began to tell her about what school I attend and I needed to get my hours in today. They were so wonderful to me. It was like they knew me! I went to wash my hands and I started to cut up some smoked turkey for future use.…show more content… After I finished with the turkey and cleaned up, I saw some of the workers taking stuff food off the trucks outside. I put my jacket on and started to help with bringing in food of the truck. I did some organizing and shelving of the food once it was brought in.
