Personal Narrative: Improving My Report Card Scores

In the past the mode of my report card scores were in the B range. However, as I enter high school changes will need to be made for future goals. Changes such as, taking better Cornell notes, experimenting with different studying skills to see if my scores will excel, and begin to study for my PSAT and ACT. Improving my studying habits may also help my current struggling classes. Classes for which I have struggled with for many years. These classes include math (Geometry) and history (AP Human Geography). Although I may have many unsuccessful classes there are also classes that I do well in, such as English Language Arts and Science. Several of my classes and grades have changed over the years. There are many different things that can help me improve my grades. One example is, managing my time, I am not good at managing my time well. Often times I would spend too much time on one homework assignment and when I finish all of my homework the time would be late not allowing me to study for upcoming tests and quizzes. Not only do I not manage my time well but I am also bad a studying. Studying notes can be really hard for me because it takes longer for me to memorize it and I don’t have a certain way to memorize it. When I am studying for a test and it is over notes we took I usually read all of my notes over and over again until I feel like I have memorized my notes well enough. Another thing that I need to change is when I start working on the work that is given to me. When I am given work by a teacher I procrastinate and I wait until it is due the next day to work on it. This has affected my grades greatly. When I procrastinate especially on projects I don’t do the best that I could have done because I waited too long. As a result of procrastinating my project grade would be a low grade causing my whole grade to decrease. Lastly I need to improve on asking questions, often times during class if I have a question or I don’t understand something I don’t raise my hand to ask these questions. Not asking questions also can affect my grades because if I don’t understand something and I don’t ask I won’t know the answer. If I don’t ask the question then if a question is on the quiz I could get the question
