The Parables of Jesus Christ When reading the Bible, readers will come across many parables that come from Jesus Christ. There are some really good parables that get people’s attention and touch their hearts. The word 'parable' comes from the Greek word parabole; it means “to throw alongside”. (“Why Did Jesus Teach in Parables?) A parable is a short story that is used to teach people about a moral or a spiritual lesson. Jesus told many parables throughout the Gospels. There are two types of parables that he would tell. There are kingdom parables and teaching parables. Kingdom Parables tell us about the value, veracity, and necessity of the Gospel. Teaching parables challenged the Disciples and believers to discipleship and to commit by instructions.…show more content…
Jesus says, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” (Mathew 13:31-32) This parable is shorter than most but it has a big meaning. It is pretty much explains itself. God wants every person to let him into their heart. Heaven may not seem like much because we cannot see it, but a mustard seed does not seem like much at first either. This story shows how much God loves everyone and how forgiving he is to every soul out there. In this story, Jesus he asks the people, “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” (Luke 15:4-7) This story has such a powerful message for Christians and people that are seeking him. Sinners that are lost in this world face a lot of danger not having God on their side. God wants every sinner in the world that is lost, to come and accept him. He does not care what the past holds, he is a forgiving God that loves everyone for who they are. This message shows how bad God seeks to save sinners, and how amazing it is to be saved by the grace of God. It is an amazing, life changing experience. Every Christian around will rejoice and celebrate with the new believer, because it is the best thing that will ever happen to
