In the very profitable world of illicit drugs, trafficking is the art of moving the product from one stage to another stage. The stages are more clearly defined in the stages of cultivation or growing, harvesting and distribution. The distribution of illicit drugs can be viewed on different scales in society. Physicians who write prescriptions for Oxycodone-Acetaminophren and Percocet are drug dealers as well as the young person who sells in the neighborhood or out of his or her home. He was born December 1, 1949, in Antioquia, Colombia. He entered the cocaine trade in the early 1970s as a small time criminal in the slums of Medellin, Columbia. Pablo joined forces with other criminals to form the Medellin Cartel and controlled most if not all of the cocaine shipped to the U.S. The Medellin Cartel became the first modern-day cocaine trafficking alliance. By 1984 Pablo Escobar as the leader and founder of the Medellin Cartel controlled more than 80 percent of the cocaine drug traffic. Columbia had two drug cartels. One cartel was very extravagant in that it flaunted its riches in front of the entire world while the other cartel was more subtle. The cartel that Pablo Escobar formed was naturally the more flamboyant. Under his leadership large amounts of coca paste were purchased in Bolivia and Peru, processed, and brought to the United States. He quickly gained a vicious reputation with law enforcement both in and outside of the United States. His ambition was to crush any opposition from law enforcement or the Columbia government by executing a campaign of terror and brutality all the while maintaining the flamboyant life style of the Medellin Cartel.
