Cotton Mather was born at the Massachusetts Bay colony in 1663 and by his father being a minister as well he was influenced to become a congregational minister. Mather is said to be one of the people responsible for the salem witch trials, because his preachings included his thoughts and belief of witchcraft. He however did not start the trials and actually opposed them throughout the occurring events. During this time he was advising judges during the trials Mather was later married at three different times of his life and lived to have 15 children, when Mather was 65 he died a day after his birthday.
