For my presentation I have chosen to describe a women that is a famous musician, actress and songwriter. Her official name is Onika Tanya Maraj, but she is more famously known for her stage name as Nicki Minaj. She is considered to be one of the most prominent female musicians in the world. She was born on the 8th of December 1982 in a place called Saint James, a sea port of northern Spain. Her parents names are Carol and Robert Maraj, and she had 3 other siblings, one sister and two brothers. She lived with her Grandmother until the age of 5. in Saint James. After reaching the age of 5 she moved to New York, U.S.A. Robert Minaj was employed with American Express and was an active gospel singer. Many times her father would sell the families furniture for money to support his addiction. In one extreme instance he attempted to kill Nicki Minaj mother, Carol, by setting their house on fire. After this incident, Nicki developed a deep seated hatred for her father and wanted him dead. Nicki Minaj religious denomination is the Christian Faith. Nicki’s father began to change into a better person after beginning a rehabilitation program and attending church. She firmly believes that her faith in God and the church congregation saved their family. She also stated that God is her hero. Nicki has only one tattoo on her body and it is located on her arm. Her tattoo say’s “God is always with me” and it is wrote in chinese. She received this tattoo when she was 16 years and when asked about it, she stated that she regrets getting it. Nicki Graduated from LaGuardia High School where her studies focused on music and acting. Her studies led her to where she is now, an actress and musician. To date she has been awarded 91 separate awards and was nominated another 232 times. Her music is considered to be primarily R&B or Hip Hop. Currently she has produced and released 9
