By taking a different approach to their methods, women could have had the potential to have a higher presence in the straight edge sector of the late 1900s punk movement. While Marilyn Monroe did, as a result, take her life due to her Hollywood involvement, her films accumulated more than two million dollars, and even today she is still considered to be the world’s most “popular icon of sex appeal and beauty” (“Marilyn”).
