Marie Curie Marie Curie worked in Paris, France. She did her work in a lab in 1914. She invented radium (x rays). She wanted to help diagnose soldiers with the x rays. She had to hide it from the Germans. They were in World War 1. She was not allowed to help the soldiers and she was also not allowed to make an acceptance speech for winning the Nobel Prize. She won the Nobel Prize twice with her husband, Pierre. Pierre died in a carriage accident, he got struck. She took his job and became the first female professor.
