Should American citizens have to wait until the age of 21 to consume alcoholic? It would be more sensible to lower the drinking age to 18 years of age. People shouldn’t have to wait until the age of 21 to consume alcoholic beverages. It’s illegal to drink under the age of 21, eventho Americans get most of the other freedoms at the age 18. There are many logical reasons why the drinking age should be lowered to 18 in the united states. It would definitely solve many problems in today's society and possibly make the country a better place for us. The government and wealth would greatly grow. If we did lower the drinking age, less people would drink because of the fact that it is legal now so it's not a big deal anymore. Americans have the right to do almost anything else besides drink at the age of 18. There is only one other thing that is not leale and that is the consumption of alcoholic beverages. At the age of 18 people can buy tobacco products that harm the body. but cannot buy alcohol products that harm the body. It just doesn't make a lot of sense because the laws allow one thing but not another. The people have rights such as getting married, joining the military forces and they get prosecuted as adults in the court. So if Americans can do most of these things, then they should be able to consume alcoholic products. People should have the right to put whatever they want in their body and not be told by the government. It is also not like any of the authorities really punish underage drinkers because it was proven that an average of two out of every 1000 underage drinkers receive a punishment.
