What is leadership? It has been defined as "the ability of an individual to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward success. The chosen leader must have certain traits that will make him/her be able to lead a group to success. In the book Lord of the Flies, Ralph has many traits that make him a good leader. Lindy Munson is an effective leader at East Noble School Corporation. Good leadership is needed for a group to be lead to success. A good leader needs to be willing to give advice and help others in need. A leader also needs to be a follower; they should allow feedback to be herd and taken into consideration. Good leaders also need to follow through with their plan and get it done. If a group gets off task they need to have the ability to refocus the members and get them back working. Leaders cannot be demanding, they need to be nice to all people and help to reach success. Leaders also need to be able to make good decision and communicate those goals to others.…show more content…
Ralph assigns people to keep a fire at the top of the mountain to release smoke for a signal for rescue. Ralph sees a boat and looks up at the mountain and looks for smoke and there wasn’t any. He calls for a meeting to repeat the plan about keeping a fire on the top of the mountain. When the kids first arrived on the island, Piggy thought that it would be a good idea to blow the conch for a signal for other survivors. Ralph took Piggy idea and blew the conch to gather survivors (page 16). Ralph and the others came up with a plan to have a fire for a signal. They built the fire to big and burned half the island. Ralph decision to move the fire to the top of the mountain and to use smoke as a signal instead of the flames showed good decision making skills (page
