The air is perfumed with the orange blossom- scented candle. If you smell more carefully, there is the smell of basil chicken wings in the air as well. Julie and I decide to build the newest Lego collection I brought one week ago - “The Parisian Restaurant”. My fascination with Lego is deeply engrained in my soul. I love to build Lego since I am a kid whereas other little girls were playing dolls and Barbies. Unfortunately, lego is usually considered as a gendered socialized-toy because some Lego collections specify the corresponding gendered players, ex “The City Collection” is for boys. With Lego, the possibilities are infinite. Whenever I open a new collection, a sense of awe overpowers me as I spreading out the pieces and observe each single small brick. Lego has provided building blocks of my life, developing my skills and ability to follow intricate directions. As I build my new worlds, brick by brick, I imagine my own possibilities and opportunities in the real life. This collection is the third one I brought this year. The Lego is consisted with three levels that I can conduct individually. The bottom levels is a restaurant which has a kitchen containing a blue and white tiled floor, a wide selection of kitchenwares and even a fridge that has milks and fruits. Besides the kitchen, there is a indoor dinning area in this floor. The second floor schemes the color of white and olive mostly. It is an apartment with detailed furnitures, including a small “wooden” pull down bed, a brownish ottoman, a fireplace and a collection of wallpaper on the wall. The third floor is undone, but it is an artist’s room consisting of a studio, art paintings and easels. The top of the restaurant will have an european-styled white roof and a black balcony with hanging lanterns and flowers. There is also an alfresco-styled dining area outside of the restaurant with blue dining tables and chairs. There are some unbelievable detailed features in this Lego collection, including a facade food selection with croissants and clams that recapture the unique elements of Paris. I start making piles of different colors of pieces to use for my restaurant. Shades of colorful bricks imparts to my vision a given rhythm of vibration. I rummage the piles which create a rattling sound, and then I pick up black pieces and start connecting them to make the balcony.
