Lamb To The Slaughter And Death By Scrabble Comparison Essay

As of late we have read 2 very interesting stories in english. The first one being,”Lamb to the Slaughter,” written by Raoul Dahl, and the second one being,”Death by Scrabble,” written by Charlie Fish. Though reading these stories I have began to notice a lot of similarities between the two, especially when it comes to how unhappy the marriages are. However they do have their key differences which I will go into greater detail about, below.
One of the first things I noticed was the difference between the characters in the stories. In the first story we read,”Lamb to the Slaughter,” where Mr. Maloney the, unhappy husband is murdered, by Mrs. Maloney, his wife who original loved him but quickly turned to hating him. However, the 2nd story,” Death by scrabble,” is quite different. In this story the husband, who as he vocalized in the beginning,” Hates his wife,” is killed by a magic scrabble board where whatever is spelled out on it happens. Thus leading to the unfortunate death of the husband due to choking on a scrabble piece. Similarly though, these stories both end in the husband dying and the wife living. On the other hand these stories are also different because in story one, there is one…show more content… For example, the wife in both stories doesn’t do anything to save the husband, till it was too late as Mrs. Maloney frome story 2 did call the cops after going to the market. Not to mention the fact that both of these stories took place in their houses, the majority of the time with the exception of, once again Mrs. Maloney’s supermarket visit. Although, these events do occur on different days, as in story 2,” it’s a blistering hot Sunday afternoon,” whereas in story 1 it’s around dinner and probably a week day. On the other hand, in both stories the husband no longer loves the wife, and in one of the stories we know for the wife the feeling is
