After a long and stressful day, I decided to take a drive down to the lake by my childhood home. The taste of dinner lingered on my taste buds on the journey to the lake. The events of the day kept replaying and flooded the forefront of my mind, haunting me like the ghosts of my past. Pulling up to the lake and beginning my short leisurely stroll to my haven, I thought of the lake and how my troubles would soon be history. Beyond the parked car, I noticed that the red embers of a recent bonfire still burned a bright red. Stepping from the warm vehicle, the musty smell of the earth plunged at me for attention. Rekindling the flames, I took the opportunity to make s’mores before my afternoon dip in the water. Surrounded by the warmth given off by the crackling open flames, popping and hissing at me like my worries from earlier that day, I could almost taste the delicious chocolate and graham cracker as the marshmallows were lightly toasted and graciously placed between the mouthwatering ingredients.…show more content…
I removed my shoes and could feel the cool, damp sand gathering in between my toes. Inching my way into the water, I could hear the croaking of a bullfrog, ushering me into the pool. Submerging myself in her presence, the lake seemed to welcome me into her home with open arms. The liquid felt like silk against my skin as I waded into the water.
