It sounds like your first graders enjoyed this story. As we have learned this week, children are usually exposed to four narratives or more through storytelling. The four narratives that our textbook points out includes accounts, eventcast, recount, and stories.
When comparing the story The Journey of the Noble Gnarble by Daniel Errico (2007), I can definitely see that they story portrays the eventcast and stories narratives. An eventcast narrative allows one to imagine what will happen in the story by using their imaganations. A stories narrative is fictionalized and provides various content in the story itself (Owens, 2012, 320).
