One of my favorite Jazz album is John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme”. In his undeniably moving experience, Coltrane thanks God for helping him purify his soul and discontinue his use of drugs and alcohol. This quartet was recorded in December 1964 and released by Impulse! Records in February 1965. "A Love Supreme" is considered to be one of Coltrane’s greatest works, due to the fact that it melded the hard bop sensibilities of his early career with modal jazz and free jazz styles he adopted later. The four part suite was recorded by the quartet in one session on December 9, 1964 at the Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. The site of inspiration for "A Love Supreme" has said to be Coltrane’s home in Dix Hills, Long Island. Coltrane’s exposure to Ahmadiyya Islam has also been suggested as his source of influence.
