The Jim Crow laws were enforced during the mid-fifties through the late sixties. These state and local laws were specific laws carried out racial segregation in the Southern United States. The existence of these laws caused African-Americans and Caucasian-Americans to protest their beliefs and try to end segregation between the two. The Jim Crow Laws caused many African-Americans physical, mental, and emotional pain. There are several reasons why Martin Luther King Jr., Brent Staples and many more colored people were affected by the Jim Crow laws.
