From what I read today in class, I concluded that I relate to the main character. The main character, Jacob Portman who is 16 years old, is going through a rough time. His grandfather died recently and his death brought him a great deal of pain because since he was a toddler, he admired his grandfather and had a close relationship to him. In a section of the book, Jacob goes to a place, an orphanage, where his grandfather used to live at because before he died, he told Jacob to go there. He explored the abandoned house while trying to look for something that would have belonged to his grandfather or that would somehow connect him to the reason his grandfather wanted him there.
