Democracy is seen by most as the best political system a country can have; many also believe that Britain is a prime example of democracy. Democracy: a form of government, where a constitution guarantees basic personal and political rights, fair and free elections, and independent courts of law. Democracy is a word that is used consistently throughout British politics by news outlets and politicians alike; but is Britain a true democracy?
