Peter Claudius The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride Review
One of the adaptations to Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet is The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride released in 1998 Directed by Darrell Rooney and Rob LaDuca. Director Rob LaDuca is also known for directing Joseph: King of Dreams (2000) and Aladdin (1994). Darrell Rooney is known for The Brave Little Toaster (1987), The Smurfs (1981) and Once Upon a Forest (1993). Screen play have been written by Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus. The original text haven’t been used in this adaptation and since it’s targeting kids then a good choice not to use the original text if it’s hard for adults and it will be harder for the kids. Scenes from the original text have been deleted and modification have been made for example we get no nurse but rather Timon and Bumba which are family friends and throughout the movie they keep watching her as Simba have commanded them to do and through the movie Simba will know when Kiara is in danger because they go back and tell…show more content… the death scene of Romeo and Juliet is been removed which is a good choice no one wants his kid crying after a movie. Yet a bit of a light drama throughout the full movie is still exist and haven’t been fully removed. The conflict between families have been kept. The death of Romeo and Juliet has been removed yet we see the death of kovu’s mother which doesn’t much affect the audience as we have been set from the beginning of the movie not to like her as she represents evil that tries to kill Simba and have been preparing her son to hate and kill Simba avenging his father and becoming king taking over the pride land as this is his right to be. Kovu not knowing that he is on the wrong side and when he finds out how wrong he know. The ending is a happy ending which differs from Shakespeare where it’s a sad ending but since the target is kids making a happy ending makes kids happy which is the target
