It is either good or bad (Dalí - Brainyquote).” Salvador Dalí was an eccentric, captivating artist who has an unrestrained, creative imagination that was unmatched by any other artist of his time. Dalí was known for his bizarre unorthodox behaviors and habits much to the dismay of those around him. He was influenced by those before him and by the things and artists that were around him. Dalí’s involvement in the Cubism, Dada and Surrealism art movements coupled with his eccentric mindset led to him creating his most famous painting ‘The Persistence of Memory.’ Dalí was born on May 11th, 1904 to two loving parents. His father, whose name was Salvador Dalí í Cusí, was lawyer and a notary. His mother, Felipa Domenech Ferrés, was a loving mother who encouraged him all of his endeavors often shielding him from the disdain of his father. He used naturalistic shapes, such as the cliff, tree and ocean in the background of the painting. This represented the landscape around his home.
