When it comes to my image, I choose a protest/image event that has not only been popular in social media, but also nationwide. My image is from one of the numerous “hands up don’t shoot “protest movement. Hands up don’t shoot has been a growing movement that has been linked to black lives matter and die in. hands up don’t shoot has caught both them media and governments attention because of the controversy and the severity of what hands up don’t shoot is linked to. Other numerous protests have stemmed from this movement some, which our very own institution has participated in which was the die-in preformed outside in front of the Alma mater. Hand up, don’t shoot/black lives matter began after controversial killing of African American male and also police brutality towards African American male population. The shooting of Trayvon Martin and the acquaintance of George Zimmerman in the shooting in 2012 was the wake up call that started the black lives movement, which exploded into a big deal when Mike Brown and other unarmed African American male was killed by a…show more content…
In the image there were numerous African American men whom fell into different categories in life like job or age group. The African American male group had their hands up, held a protest banners or just threw up signs and smiled towards the camera. Looking at the image, it was clear that the picture was staged and the banners which the protestors carried read numerous things like “hands up don’t shoot #justiceformikebrown “, “no justice, no peace” and “Stop the violence” etc. The protest was to show that they stood in solidarity with the other people whom are involved with the movement. This protest/social movement was fell into taking initiative because the movement is calling for a change in the way African American were treated and the way the legal system
