A beautiful century, or time period would include a population increase, wealth, and a rise in goods, crops, imports and exports as well. If there were wars to be fought, than the country experiencing the positive upbringing would win the war. Life would be great, and the citizens would live worry free, peasants as well as nobles would be able to afford the same produce and meats, even enjoying the same fine wine. France in the 1500’s experienced this. “The Beautiful Century”, as it is now called is known for its economic and cultural prosperity, as the Renaissance is also welcomed in during this time period. This itself was important because in order to be a European powerhouse just like Spain and England, France must hold a high population number so that those living in France would be able to establish a government, and develop an army, a national defense system from other powerful neighboring nations. All of this begins with internal peace within the country itself. The French army was currently in Italy, which allowed the petty internal problems to disappear. Also, the security of roads and rivers helped to improve the trade France had with other countries. The presence of trade was crucial to a country’s survival because it allows others to respect that country. The big difference maker was that these clothes and cloths were sold to the common people of Paris, which most likely had lowered the price, making a higher increase in sales possible. If stores had only sold the expensive clothes in the past, the economy was not well off so the sales were low. Now that people had more money, they were able to buy clothes in higher quantities. Not only were the sales higher, but also the exports to Spain, the Indies, and the Mediterranean areas increased. Now that this was increasing, France could charge a higher price for a product to be exported, with a tax on their goods to bring in even more revenue. This brought gold and silver to France.
