In the pessimistic poem “Exposure” Wilfred Owen through archetypes, imagery, repetition, and diction conveys that traumatic experiences can completely restructure an individual’s reactions to events in their life. Towards the end of the poem the author uses the word “love” to describe what the soldiers once felt for their God (Stanza 7, line 5). The soldiers that the poem is centered on had strong devotion and love for the god they worshipped, this adoration slowly dwindles down to nothing towards the end.
