How long did it take for the first balloon to pop? The first balloon took seven seconds to pop when in was held over the flame. This is because the the heat from the flame was being transferred to the latex of the balloon causing it to get hot and pop.
How long did it take the second balloon (the one containing water) to pop? The second balloon containing water took fifty-two seconds to pop. This is because rather than just having to heat up the balloon the flame had to heat the water inside the balloon first causing the second balloon to take longer than the first to pop.
