Kennedy) Society's standards and rules make individuals have a great fear of judgement and what will be critiqued about him/her. Society will always have a difficult time accepting individualism, and every individual should follow society’s standards and “rules” to not be deemed an outcast or even mentally unstable. In One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey, McMurphy’s individualism sent him to a mental institute, and although McMurphy had aggressive behavior, it can surely be judged reasonable because his actions had to be considered mad in order to help the patients in the mental institute.…show more content…
Also, society views these behaviors not normal, but Emily Dickinson wrote, “Much madness is Divinest sense..To a discerning Eye”, and this suggests that to someone with good judgment, madness is the greatest of “senses”.
