Achilles Although Beowulf and Achilles are both epic heroes, there are many differences between the king of the Geats and the demi-god general of Greece. Some examples of this are one fights for honor and the other fights for revenge, “Beowulf” was written about 750 B.C. although the “Iliad” was written about 700 B.C., one fights monsters while the other fights his fellow man; but both Beowulf and Achilles have some of the same traits: they’re both fearless, and were some of the greatest leaders of their times. Beowulf is the king of the Geats, the slayer of monsters. Some examples are Grindle, a fire breathing dragon, and Grindle’s mother. His reason for killing these monsters
