Edgar Allan Poe in his gothic poem, The Raven writes about an unnamed man who sits alone in his room one late night. The man hears a tapping on his door but when he goes to open it, there is no one. All he hears is an echo of the word “Lenore”. Again, he hears a tapping but at his window this time, as he opens the window a raven flies in and perches on a “bust of Pallas”. The narrator is amused by the raven and begins to ask it questions to which the raven continuously replies “nevermore”. The narrator begins to become upset by the bird and his answer, calling the raven an evil prophet. Eventually the narrator sees that questioning the bird is pointless and asks the bird to leave him however the bird does not move and the narrator believes
