Dolores Clara Fernandez was born April 10,1930. She was born in Dawson, New Mexico.She is a mother of 11.she was activist and labor leader who co-founded the National Farm Workers Association with Cesar Chavez.Huerta worked to improve social and economic conditions for farm workers and to fight discrimination.In 1966, she negotiated a contract between the UFWOC and Schenley Wine Company, marking the first time that farm workers were able to effectively bargain with an agricultural enterprise. In 1965, Huerta directed the UFW's (United Farm Workers) national boycott during the Delano Grape Strike, taking the plight of the farm workers to the consumers.She even created the AWA (Agricultural Workers Association).
