Does Kafka Use The Foreshadowing Effect In The Metamorphosis

213 Words1 Page
In The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, the style presents the nightmare quality of the work. The style enriches the nightmare quality of the work by adding a foreshadowing effect and giving the minor detail straight forward. This is shown when Gregor wakes up and notices he does not have the form of the human body. I believe that Gregor changing into an unknown organism adds to the foreshadowing and nightmarish effect of the story. It adds to the foreshadowing effect by giving us a hint that this is an unusual and not an everyday transformation. Also, this helps with the nightmarish effect because he is frightened by it and does not know what to say or do. Another illustration is where the style enhances the nightmarish quality of the work.
