'Pleasantville' shows the historical loop that our world is apart of, as our world evolves we follow a planned path, that has already been completed many times before, and as we go through the steps we face the same challenges in different ways each time. Our current challenge is acceptance of diversity, back in the late 1940’s and into the 1950’s the challenge was equality for all women, men, black people and white people. It's the exact same scenario yet for some people today it is mind boggling to even think about a person choosing their gender or who they want to be with. This in not just a problem in America, it has become a problem everywhere some places are more evolved to handle it so they accept faster than others. In the movie ‘pleasantville’…show more content…

So far Mary Sue has introduced sex into the lives of the pleasantville citizens, as the citizens discover sex slowly the world starts to change and then Mary Sue tells her mother how to be happy without George, who is Mary Sue’s father and Betty’s husband, this is a major change because it causes a tree to catch fire. When he sees change he tries to separate it out and change it, since we are on a historical loop no matter what he does he can not stop evolution. As we saw from the 1940s and 1950s no matter how hard they tried to keep the colored people separated they could not because on the inside we are all the same and we all have the same birth rights. One day gay marriage will be legalized in all 50 states of America and hopefully the whole world, just like equality for people of color we will have equal right for those in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. As Philip Johnson once said “You’re going to change the world? Well, go ahead and try. You’ll give it up at a certain point and change yourself instead.” Here I think is trying to tell people that how we handle the situation dictates how the world will change, but we can not go on and try to change the world with the snap of our fingers because it is in impossible. Every person who has ever tried has failed for example Hitler, Mussolini, Kim Jong Il and the list goes on, we can not stop them from trying, the only thing we can do is learn from it, you
