As I read chapter 9, “Crime and Criminal Justice,” the first main point that is discussed is the different types of crimes. Diana Kendall discussed six different categories of crime but I will only talk about two of them. The first category of crime that Kendall discussed is violent crime. A violent crime is defined as a crime where an offender uses or threatens force upon their victim. According to Kendall, violent crimes includes murder, rape, gang violence, aggravated assault and robbery and is committed against people. Violent crimes affects the society because people fear violent crimes more than any other crime due to the fact, the victims are injured or killed and that the decline in the quality of life that society suffer
