The Adventures of Treadwell and McCandless
McCandless from the book Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, and Treadwell from the documentary Grizzly Man both went into the wild. McCandless went into the wild to avoid the everyday stresses and routines of society. Timothy Treadwell went into the wild to try to help and protect the animals. McCandless didn’t do anything meaningful because he just went into the wild and only cared about himself. Timothy Treadwell did something meaningful with his life and McCandless didn’t.
Timothy Treadwell went to Alaska for months at a time to try to protect the animals. He went out there for thirteen summers. Even if he didn’t help the animals he died doing what he loves which is meaningful. “I will die for these…show more content… Later that day it rained a lot and he thought that was because of him. “I am the Lord's humble servant. I am Allah's disciple. I am the Floaty Things go-for boy. There has been a miracle here. There has been an absolute miracle. It has rained 1.65 inches of rain today!” He thought he was a god because it rained when he wanted it to.
Chris McCandless went out into the wild for himself. There was no meaningful reason why he did it. He just wanted to enjoy life but it didn’t really mean anything to anyone else because he was only concerned about himself. “The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.” He was selfish to leave his family and friends, and go into the wild just for himself with no real meaning to it.
