“TRUE-NERVOUS-VERY, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am,”(p. 81). The Author, Allan Poe, wrote gothic stories, titled The Black Cat and The Tale-Tell Heart which took place mainly at night. In the stories, the main character, the narrator wanted something but the removed, but the police came, or the house burnt and he got caught in both. You should never betray your creator in anyway. The conflict in Edgar Allen Poe’s stories The Black Cat and The Tale-Tell Heart show that you should never betray your creator. The narrator had something that was bothering he so he decided to remove, or kill it. “One morning , in cold blood , I slipped a noose about its neck and hung it in the limb of a tree, (p. 117). The man came home from work and the cat bothered him so he decided to hang it from a tree. The quote shows that he killed an innocent cat for no reason. “In an instant I dragged him to the floor and pulled the heavy mattress over him,” (p. 83). The Narrator thought the old man had a vulture eye, so he killed the man because he didn’t like the look of the eye. He killed the old man just because he had an eye that was different. The setting in both took place in the dark of night. “ One night, returning much intoxicated…, (p. 116). He was drunk so he decided to kill the cat. He let drinking take over his actions, betraying his creator. “Upon the eighth night I Was more than usually cautious,” (p.82). He killed the old man because his eye was different, And it took place at night. He killed the old man just because he wanted to.
