Colin Wilson was an English philosopher and novelist. He was born on June 26, 1931, and died on December 5, 2013, at the age of eighty-two. He composed a total of thirty books throughout his life largely based on true crime events. Colin stared in movies such as Life Force, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, John Carter and received the PGA Vision Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures. “The average man is a conformist, accepting miseries and disasters with the stoicism of a cow standing in the rain," quoted by Colin Wilson. He believes people are like cows in that they accept the fate of their existence. There are various views on this quote such as whether man or, women actually live by this quote. I agree with certain aspects of this quote, in that it is true that things happen beyond our control. I also have conflict with this quote in that certain miseries and disasters that occur in our life can be prevented or minimized.…show more content…
Colin implies in this quote that things happen beyond the realm of our control. Even like the cow standing in the rain, there could be a choice by the cow to find cover from the rain or just accept the fact this is where the cow's conflict lies.
