Stephen Formanoiwcz Week 1 My primary stock is Chipotle Mexican Grill. Chipotle is a chain restaurant in United States, United Kingdom, Canada,Germany and France. Steve Ells started the first Chipotle in Denver Colorado in 1993. McDonald's started investing in Chipotle in 1998 and by 2001 McDonald's had become Chipotle’s largest investor. From 1998 to 2005 Chipotle went from 16 restaurants to over 500. In 2015 there are around 1800 Chipotle restaurants worldwide. Chipotle is a fast food restaurant that serves burritos, hard and soft shell tacos, salads, quesadillas, and this meal plan that’s called a bowl. The lowest stock price from Chipotle in the past 52 weeks was $597.33. The highest stock price is the past 52 weeks was $758.61. The current price/ earnings ratio is 44.24. The estimated earnings per share for the year is 16.51. The annual sales for Chipotle is $3.2 billion. Lastly the number of people who work at Chipotle is 45,200. Chipotle has been building up since 1993 and is now one of the bigger name fast food restaurants like Mcdonalds or burger king. Their stock value has increased by nearly 322%. Sales and profits have grown in the last couple years. There was a 17% increase in sales and a 36% increase in profit. However, there has been a salmonella outbreak at a Chipotle in Minnesota that got 64 people sick and sent 9 to the hospital. The outbreak was tracked back to the tomatoes that Chipotle were serving customers. Chipotle has switched tomato suppliers so there is no longer anything to fear eating at Chipotle. I picked Chipotle as my primary stock because I personally like Chipotle and the food they serve. I also wanted to pick a stock that is very steady as my main stock so I wouldn't lose a lot of money on my main stock. My approach to investing in stocks is conservative. I think that making a small amount of money is better than a risk of losing however much money you put
