Topic: Rallying Parents to fight Childhood Obesity
I. Thesis: In an effort to fight the nationwide epidemic of childhood obesity, parents should not turn a blind eye on their children’s’ eating habits but rally to fix the problems of overeating. i. Parents are unable to accept their child’s weight. ii. It is the parents’ denial that is fueling childhood obesity.
II. Not accepting the obesity i. Making changes in the child’s diet is a lot of work. ii. Child’s weight is because of the “new normal.” iii. Even though children are at risk of developing life threatening diseases. III. Who or what is to blame? i. The child’s pediatrician? ii. Parents resigned to their kid being overweight.
